How Much Does CCTV Installation Cost in Logan?

Installing four wired 4K cameras on a typical single storey Logan home starts at $1,690. The price moves with the number of cameras, the house and the cable runs, and a good quote shows every one of those lines.

What the starting price assumes

The starting prices are for a single storey house with a tile or Colorbond roof and room to move in the roof space. Many of the brick lowsets around Kingston, Slacks Creek, Marsden and Springwood fit that description. When a house needs more work, each extra item is listed separately so you can see exactly what it costs.

What adds to a quote

Split levels. Common on the hills around Daisy Hill and Shailer Park. Getting cable from one level to the cameras on another takes extra planning and time.

Double storey homes. Upper level cameras take longer to mount safely and need longer cable runs.

Tricky roofs. Low pitched estate roofs packed with insulation, raked ceilings and homes with no roof access all slow the job down.

Extra cameras. Each additional camera adds the camera, its cable run and mounting time. A bigger recorder is needed once you pass the channel count.

Distance. On acreage, sheds and gates beyond 100 metres need fibre, an extender or a wireless link. These are listed as their own items.

Special cameras. Number plate cameras, zoom cameras and pan tilt cameras cost more than standard turrets.

Reading two quotes side by side

When two quotes for four cameras are hundreds of dollars apart, the gap usually comes from things that are not obvious on the day. Lower resolution or budget cameras with weak night vision. Cable run along the outside walls rather than through the roof. A small hard drive that holds only a few days of footage. Or an installer without the Queensland security licence and ACMA cabling registration the work requires.

Ask every installer to list the same things: camera models, recorder model, hard drive size, cable type, cable route, licence numbers and warranty. Then compare.

Keeping the cost down

Buy an eight channel recorder now if you might add cameras later. Spend on the cameras covering doors and the driveway, and save on low risk spots. If you are building, pre-wire at frame stage. And if you have already bought a reasonable wired kit, getting it installed properly is often the cheapest path.

Questions people ask

Can the price change on the day?

No. The written quote is the price. Anything extra a property needs, such as a long run to a shed, is itemised in the quote before work starts.

Is there a monthly fee?

No. The system records to a hard drive in your home, so there is no cloud subscription.

Do the prices include GST?

Yes. Every price on this site includes GST.
